urban debris reduce electricity production. Proper maintenance is therefore
essential.
Why clean your solar panels?
A dirty panel can lose up to 15% of its performance. Cleaning helps to maintain optimal production and extend the lifespan of the modules.
Robot or manual cleaning?
Cleaning robots are ideal for large solar power plants. For a residential installation, their use is often impossible (too small a surface area, limited access). In this case, opt for safe manual cleaning:
- Use telescopic poles equipped with microfiber cloths
- Clean with fresh water, without abrasive products, as you would with windows
- Never climb onto the roof: risk of serious fall
- Never walk on the panels: you could damage them.
Practical advice
- Choose a cool, cloudy day to avoid thermal shock
- Rinse thoroughly to remove particles
- Avoid high-pressure cleaners, which can damage the seals
